Given that traditionally the only liquidity events for investors in equity crowdfunding campaigns are if the startup is acquired or goes public how to you actually measure the performance of your portfolio?
Great question - tracking real-time portfolio performance for Reg CF and Reg A is definitely a real pain point today.
In short, I use the KingsCrowd portfolio tool - https://kingscrowd.com/portfolio/
I record any exits/failures there, and also notes when SAFEs or Convertible Notes convert, along with any other updates.
As VP of Product, I can tell you we (KingsCrowd) will also soon have features to better display an estimated value of your portfolio, based on the latest share price (from any subsequent funding rounds) and based on the number of shares that you record that you own in the portfolio tool.
Here's a sample screenshot.
I also use the KingsCrowd exit and failure tracker to help stay abreast of the latest potential exits and failures. I'll usually (hopefully) hear about exits or failures directly from my investment companies, but I've had more than a few that went out of business (or even had an IPO!) that I didn't learn about until I heard about it through non-company channels.
